Crops and whips are strictly prohibited.
Martingales, breastplates, bit guards, blinkers, ear plugs, and bandages or boots on the horse are prohibited during training, warm-up, and competitions.
Ear hoods, or bonnets, are allowed if they are discreet in color.
Error of Course: Two percentage points will be taken from your total score on the first error. On a second error, you will be eliminated
Entering the ring with prohibited equipment: Deduction of 1 percentage point from the total score. If the test has already started, the rider can continue the test once the equipment is removed/taken
Entering the arena before the bell: Deduction of 1 percentage point from the total score
Leaving the arena during a test: A horse leaving the arena entirely with 4 feet during a test will be eliminated
Unauthorized assistance: Any outside help by voice, signs, text, etc, is considered unauthorized assistance and will result in elimination
Failure to enter the ring within 90 seconds: Failure to enter the arena 90 seconds after the sound of the bell will result in elimination
Moves are marked on a scale from 0-10 by each judge, with 0 being the lowest and 10 being the highest mark. The scale of marks is as follows:
Half marks from 0.5-9.5 may also be used for both movements and the collective mark at the judge's discretion.
In freestyle tests, decimal marks may be added as artistic or harmony marks.
All dressage arenas must be a minimum of 81x35 (including the walkway). There must also be letters to mark the sides of the arena.
