Archery has three main categories: archery trails, track, and shooting. Tack and attire restrictions are fairly lax, and you may use whatever fits your horse best. All tack must be western.
Missed Targets: Any targets missed will add 2.5 seconds to the riders' time per target.
Halting while doing the course: You must be moving at all times. If you halt suddenly during the course, you will be eliminated. Exceptions can be made if you have to go AFK suddenly.
Walking backwards: You may slow down as much as you want; however, walking backward will eliminating you. Walking sideways is fine as long as you don't go backwards.
Shooting multiple times at a target: You should only shoot once per target. Shooting multiple times will result in a disqualification.
Going off course: Going off course and shooting at the wrong target will lead to an elimination.
Trail archery is a more fun-based event. It focuses on the rider’s ability to spot hidden targets and navigate rugged terrain.
To score an archery trail class, the host must time the riders and write down how many targets they hit. An example of a score would be 35.6s 9/10, with 9/10 being the number of targets the rider successfully hit with their arrow. The missed target would add 2.5s to the riders' time, so the final time would be 38.1s.
Archery track is based on speed and precision. Riders should compete at a canter or extended canter, but whichever gait fits their needs is acceptable.
Scoring in archery track is the same as archery trails.
Archery shooting is an arena-based event that does not use bows and arrows. In real life, it would typically be done with a revolver, but in-game, it is recreated with snowballs. This sport combines the skills of other disciplines, such as barrel racing, pole bending, and reining.
Scoring in archery shooting is essentially the same as in trails and track.
There is no size requirement because it is done in a field. Along the trail, there can be jumps and hidden targets. All targets must be a minimum of 20b apart (horizontally), and there must be a minimum of 8 targets.
Tracks should be a minimum of 50b long and a minimum of 10b wide. There should be at least 6 targets above the track that are at least 20b apart from each other.
While there are no requirements for the size of a shooting arena, there should be enough space for the rider and horse to complete the designated pattern. Within the pattern, targets should be placed for the rider to shoot at. The targets must be item frames with brightly colored blocks inside for increased visibility.
