INSTRUCTIONS:

So to monitor your progress, you will find instructions throughout the Online Module that relate to Assignment X, some of which you are asked to send in on or before the due-date, and some to share with us during the English Laboratory lessons.

These could be ASSIGNMENTS requiring "WRITING" or "SPEAKING" and have an icon to indicate that this is a task that you are expected to do.

In the case of Speaking tasks, make your recordings on an online platform that will provide you with a URL. CHECK that this URL works before sending it. Follow the instructions regarding how you should send in your Assignments. Assignments received via email will be "evidence of inability to comprehend written instructions", noted for negative marking, and also be ignored.

ADVICE

At times, we suggest you use Google Translate to confirm your understanding of potentially difficult language. When you do this, insert whole phrases, not single words: often the context determines what words mean.

In addition, the best way to learn a new language is to write it out by hand. This is because the process of writing words out by hand obliges us to focus on the words we are writing and this increases the chances that we will learn this new language.

Since we cannot write by hand into Google, at least type in the phrases rather than simply copy-and-pasting them in, a process which is much less "mental", thus less conducive to learning.

Likewise, if we ever forget to instruct you to "consolidate with the Workbook", do so. You are learning English for your own future, so do as much as you can for yourself.
