While much of the program is self-directed, the Lesson Plans can help you give structure and focus, and support as needed. They are provided in Word and Google doc formats so you can adapt and modify as needed.
If students can't access the student site, we will be producing pdf alternatives that will be available here shortly. If you need an interim alternative, contact romlearning@rom.on.ca with the subject line "Museum Minecraft Student Notebook alternative".
Take the time to locate your student experts and establish community expectations for the use of Minecraft in class.
Important things to ensure you include are: staying on task, staying in the right game mode, and consequences for not following the guidelines.
Lessons 2, 4, and 6 allow students to select rocks and minerals of interest to elaborate on, so they may not speak to all the NPCs. These lessons have an Achievement Hunters section that students can use to collate all the available information. The following .png files may be distributed to students who complete Achievement Hunters sections for use in online portfolios, etc.
They can also be added to templates for printing stickers or buttons.
Igneous Investigator | Sedimentary Sleuth | Metamorphic Master
Orient your students to the world, teach them how to back up their progress every day, set the stage for independent learning by determining the tasks that need to be accomplished.
Students should view the Phase 1 orientation individually or as a class before starting this lesson.
