Introduction: During the pandemic, students were required to transition to online learning, with little to no support or coaching on the technology needed to succeed. These videos were created to provide students with simple videos that are easily accessible to help support them in accessing the curriculum for their classes.
Problem: Many students were unfamiliar with how to send an email, check email, add Google Classroom and interact on Google Classroom, all of which were crucial skills for students to have in order to access curriculum provided by teachers.
My Role: I developed these videos which were then shared department and district wide to help support student need.
Research: I created a short survey to confirm that students were unfamiliar with the skills listed above. The survey was distributed across multiple classes and in multiple languages. That majority of students confirmed that they were unfamiliar with these processes.
Process: Using Screencast-o-Matic, I created four short videos that demonstrated each of the skills students needed support with. Students were then required to demonstrate their understanding of each skill by completing the following:
Adding their Google Classroom
Turning in an assignment
Checking an email from their teacher
Replying to an email from their teacher.
Videos were edited using Screencast-o-Matic and sent to students via Zoom, their classroom platform. They were then posted on Google Classroom to be used as a reference.
