Introduction: This project was created to provide teachers with student engagement strategies to use in their classrooms.

Problem: Many teachers were new to teaching Newcomer students, and needed easy to implement strategies that were successful with Newcomer students.

My role: In collaboration with other subject matter experts, I developed this to help provide teachers with necessary information to create a successful learning environment for their students.

Research: Being an SME myself, I utilized successful strategies from my own classroom. In addition, other SME's provided successful strategies from their own experiences.

Process: I began by listing the different strategies I wanted to share with teachers. Then, I decided the best way to present this strategies was through an "notebook". This way, teachers could visit this one resource and have access to multiple strategies. I created the notebook using Google Slides. When you open the document, you are able to click on each notebook tab. This will take you to the different engagement strategies. When presenting this to teachers, I created interactive activities that demonstrated each strategy the teacher could use.

The "notebook" went through multiple rounds of revision from other SME's. These strategies were shared to teachers in person, but could also be shared synchronously. The strategies themselves can be used with students in person or synchronously.
