In case you are wondering, the header photo is of Ike Davis and his famous railing catch: the Bobblehead Edition!
Dear Friends and Family:
As a young teen in high school, I always dreamed of going to baseball games to see my favorite team play. Only when I was about 15, I couldn't voice out my desires to family and friends because no one watched baseball like I did, nor were they interested in going.
As I got a bit older, a few years later, I was able to influence my sisters to 1-watch baseball 2-have the desire to go to games.
Then as a young adult and a college graduate, I had enough dough to pay for tickets and go to more games.
Finally, as an adult, I've realized that my desires weren't fully met, I wanted to see them all (stadiums), so I made it a goal and in 2022, I accomplished this goal to visit all the MLB stadiums. All 30 of them.
Now, baseball is not for everyone or it's just something to do on a summer evening. By this, I mean that people go to socialize and catch up with old friends, people go to drink and eat, people go because it's free, some even go to go on dates (I've done this twice, haha), but most importantly, I go to watch the game. Like literally, pay attention and watch the game. I also go to enjoy the entire experience. Citi Field is a place that feels like "home" to me. It's one of a few places that people understand how I feel without me having to express anything because we feel the exact same thing! That's what I mean by feeling at home.
I've decided to add this page to share my Mets games experiences from the past 2 decades that involved friends, colleagues, classmates, and family.
Mets game with NYCP! Alex and Matt! June 19, 2022 (Father's Day Hat Giveaway)
Side story: I remember my first day volunteering at NYCP in Sept 2021. Alex was the team leader and greeted me with his first words to me: Nice hat (Mets visor). From that point on, I knew I developed a die hard Mets-rooted friendship. Months later, I would find out that Matt is also a Mets fan!
Angela, Alex, and Matt.
Mets game with sisters and Yerim, college friend from Michigan State! This was at Shea. (2005)
Side story: Yerim was one of a few close friends I made at MSU so when she visited NYC after I had left, I took her to a game at Shea.
Mets game with Justin: Another Buffalo friend, another Mets fan. (2013).
Side story: I don't remember what class we had in common but I distinctly remember going to a Billy Talent show with Justin.
Mets game with Tim! (May 3, 2022 Doubleheader)
Side story: Tim is one of my good friends from meetup. He actually told me about New York Cares in 2014, so it's interesting that sometimes you meet people who serves as a positive influence (for years to come). The only team we root for together is the Jets. He doesn't have an allegiance to any other NY team or follow actively. I call him a fairweather sports fan, lol.
Mets game with Bill (2008), my college friend from Buffalo! This was at Shea. He's a Mets fan...but also a White Sox fan.
Side story: Bill was always down to watch Buffalo Bulls basketball with me, and he even took me to my first hockey game (Buffalo Sabres) at HSBC Arena. He's the only college friend who invited me to a wedding (his), so that meant a lot to me.
Mets game with Madonna (2019), high school friend from Murrow HS, also we had Yearbook Club together.
Side Story: Madonna is the only high school friend I kept in touch with and it's Mets games like these that has us catching up on life every so often.
Mets game with Marco and Cathy (2015)
Side story: Meetup friends. Cathy scored free tickets for a bunch of us, but on this outing, she only invited a few of us. Our photo went up on the scoreboard that day.
Mets game with Kris. Side story: Kris had always been nice to me so for her birthday, I took her to a Mets game (2016).
Mets game with my sister and her friend, Jarrod (2011). The two other people photobombed the picture, lol.
Mets game (2008) with the Cali cousins: Ellie, Angela, Jen, Andrew, Jonathan, Gabriel.
Mets game (2015): Blood donation tickets
Side story: I remember this day vividly. I actually organized a meetup (to donate blood), and after receiving vouchers, we coordinated to get tickets on the same game. The seats were a bit better than what they offer in 2023...
Meetup friends: Judy, Will and Asher.
Mets game (2013): Trevor's first concert? Third Eye Blind at Citi Field, post game!
Side story: The first album I ever bought was Blue by Third Eye Blind so it was awesome to see them in concert at Citi Field. Trevor fell asleep for the entire concert!!
Mets game with Sean and Amy (2019): They came on one of my meetup hikes and then invited me to a Mets game! We witnessed Alonso's 52nd homer that night!
Me, Bob and Juan
The BEST SEATS I ever had... for FREE.
8/27/2019: Mets game with colleagues: John, Juan, Bob and me: 3 attorneys and a senior paralegal walk into a stadium...LOL. Unfortunately, all 3 attorneys have left the company, but John always had tickets, whether it's from other friends or his own, and thought of me, because I'm a sure bet of going to games. He's the one who said when the game was on a rain delay one time, that I'd be still around to turn off the lights at Citi Field. This game, however, somehow... we scored these field level seats near home plate, maybe a dozen rows back?
For Opening week, on April 7, 2019, the promotion was Jacob DeGrom Cy Young Bobblehead. I invited my friend, Zack (a Blue Jays fan)...of course, he had to wear that hat. When we met up, the lines were literally outside the gates of the stadium, as pictured. I was panicking that we would miss out on the bobblehead, but luckily, we were early enough to miss the cutoff, whew! Even Sandy the Seagull came out from Brooklyn to entertain the fans!
Side story: Zack is from NJ... he roots for the Jaguars (NFL), the Blue Jays, Penguins?, and I have no idea about NBA...but I doubt it's any of the tri-state area teams.
MORE TO BE ADDED...
