Reminders
Make sure your child has a water bottle with their name on it at school everyday. We have filtered water at school, but we have seen an increase in student using school cups and NOT WASHING THEM.
Make sure your students coats, shoes, rubber boots, lunch boxes... are labeled with their nameEffective January 1, 2024, the Cancer Prevention Act requires that every public and private school to notify 6th grade students and their parents/guardians that they are advised to follow current human papilloma virus (HPV) immunization guidelines before starting 8th grade. (See Letter).
Please ensure that students arriving at school after 10 am are properly signed in, whether they are late for their first class or have classes scheduled after 10 am. Our staff member or designated older student volunteer is responsible for recording attendance from 9 am to 10 am. However, this service is not extended beyond the specified time. At Mistwood, we do not impose punitive measures on students or families based on attendance or lack thereof. We believe in allowing families to make attendance decisions for themselves. Nevertheless, it is crucial to emphasize that maintaining accurate attendance records is a state requirement applicable to ALL schools.
Students that are bringing their home rubber boots need to ALSO bring shoes to wear inside that can be kept clean. Muddy boots need to NOT be worn in the buildings.
Remember to check your students communication folders at least once a week
Mistwood Birthdays! Mistwood has a special birthday tradition of sharing positive thoughts about the person and singing. We don't do birthday celebrations on Thursdays because of swimming. Please sign up here or on the school calendar for a non-Thursday breaktime. Mistwood does allow families to bring in treats to school on a student's birthday to share. These treats should be small, and a full list of ingredients needs to be provided. Please also check with the school for a list of problematic food to avoid, current allergens and dietary restrictions. Non-food treats are also encouraged as a safe alternative.
Please pack balanced healthy food for your students. Make sure to avoid candy, and drinks with added sugar or caffeine. See our October blog for some ideas!
If your student is going to eat breakfast at school, please make sure to get them here at 9am so they have time to eat by class time.
Please remind students not to share their food, we have other students with food restrictions, sensitivity and allergies. If your child has a food restrictions, sensitivity and allergies PLEASE let us know.
Remember to log your service hours here.
