Personalized Tuition in 2024-25

Mistwood Educational Center is embarking on an exciting initiative that puts equity and inclusion at the center of all we do. For over 40 years, Mistwood has been a place where relationships are central, diverse perspectives are valued, and students grow as thoughtful learners, compassionate leaders, and engaged citizens. As we move into our 45th year and look at the needs and aspirations of today’s world, we know we need to reimagine how we operate as a private institution.

WHAT IF?

• What if our tuition model better aligned with our values of equity and inclusion?

• What if financial means was no longer a barrier to accessing a Mistwood education?

• What if each family’s tuition was an amount that was within their ability to pay?

We created a Personalized Tuition Model for the 2024-2025 school year. The Personalized Tuition Model invites families to invest to the best of their ability in their children’s education and community. 

How it Works

1-You need to provide information about your family’s financial situation, including general income, expenses, assets, and debt. All of the information is submitted via FACTS, a third party. There is a $40 filing fee that will be credited to your deposit. If you do not want to provide information about your family’s financial situation you can choose Tier E.

2- Based on the Information the third party will match families with a Tier below that best matches your ability to contribute to the school. (See here for Independent Study tiers) 

3- If the Tier your family is matched with does not accurately represent your family's ability to contribute you are welcome to put in a request for a different tier. Mistwood will do its best to meet these requests, while meeting the costs of running the school. As you entrust the education of your most precious treasures to us, we entrust the financial health of the Mistwood to you. Our hope is that you have truly reflected on your means and on what you would like to inspire through your tuition payments.

Other Fees Will Still Apply- Fees for swimming, materials fee, before and after school, school service, camp-out, and field trips will still apply. (See other fees here)

Students with Two Households

Option 1- One parent/guardian takes on full responsibility for the tuition and fees. Only that parent's/guardian’s household finances will be taken into consideration for matching with a tier. 

Option 2- Each of the student’s parents/guardians will apply separately for a tier. Each parent/guardian will pay 50% of the tuition at the tier they are matched. You will need to enter your students SSN (even though it is marked as an optional question) so that they are matched across the parents two separate applications.
