3. The Next Two Years (and The Unexpected Massacre)
You might not know this game but I do.
You might not know this game but I do.
Happy birthday to the best Blash8 Games video game ever made, The Endless Pizza Siege. You might ask "what is The Endless Pizza Siege"? so here's the answer.
The Endless Pizza Siege was a 2D top-down shooter where you play as Mark Sebastian, a pizza delivery guy who gets prank called to deliver pizza to the infamous "Infinite Apartament" (yes, it's misspelled on purpose because that's how I used to spell "apartment" back then, the Romanian way). Could you guess what was happening in the building? If you used the hint from the title, you're correct! A massacre was happening in the building. Mark then decided to play the hero and he started to kill the attackers by using his pizza themed weapons (dear God, what was wrong with me?).
Because it was made in 2024 (and I was a little.. dumb?), it was poorly made. It didn't even have delta time! But the thing that really killed the project was the fact that I got ahead of myself. I dreamed way too big! Read the last development log of the game for proof by clicking here!! The fact that I planned on adding so much stuff (and that school was starting 5 days later) contributed to killing the project off. It didn't get updated and I delisted it early this year along with Pinguin Gun (which also has the same reason). Did you know I only finished the pause menu? I didn't even start the other things. I'm honest.
Two years ago, the video game released. To celebrate, I will talk about the scrapped stuff I remember about.. Let's get started/
Mr. Why was supposed to have a blue sticky hand that he would attack you with when you two were close. It worked like this.
First, he would grab you with the sticky hand.
Second, he would spin you around a little.
Third, he would let go, slamming you into the wall!
It was removed because I didn't know how to draw the sticky hand. The gif you see is a poorly made recreation of how it was supposed to look like.
Lonob is a scrapped enemy that ran towards you and pushed you against the wall with the result of you being damaged and his limbs scattered on the floor before returning to his body. He had voice lines which you can listen to them here!
Of course, he isn't really "lost". He appears in the game files and also on Mr. Business' shelves in Monet Build!
The reason he was removed was because he didn't fit the game's art style (I don't know why I added him back in as a background prop. 2024 me was... weird.). Fun fact: I remember that I also wanted to add two enemies, the first was a toothpaste dude that would literally throw with toothpaste (another reason why 2024 me was weird), and the other was a dude made out of squares or something like that.
Early in the game, I was planning to add a glitch game mode. How you would access it? After finishing the first room, shoot the door that led to the entrance 5 times and enter it. You would hear a voice that said "I am aware of what you are doing. You did this to yourself.". Then glitchy enemies that you see on the sides of this text, which made loud sounds would start spawning and attack you. The one on the left is JOE, and the other one is LO.
Below them, you can see the original sprites. Your HUD would be glitched, the ammo, HP, room nr. would have incorrect values and it had a spooky music. The music was the low HP music because I didn't program it to be played when you had low HP when I was working on this mode. But this would be scrapped because it had nothing to do with the lore in any single way. I think I did this because I was bored or lazy. This was an unnecessary thing (like 99.8% of the things I added to OblitrX last month).
The key item that you see and use in the came is actually.. a car key. I searched up "keys png" on Google and just traced over a random image. Could this mean that the doors in the Infinite Apartament use car keys and not normal keys? Yes. I don't know why I didn't change this. But another fact, the brick item that you eat to regain your HP back was actually one of my classmates ideas.
Since Lonob wasn't really lost, I will talk about an "item" that is lost. It was called the "Direction Changer". What did it do? IT CHANGED THE DIRECTION OF YOUR SCREEN BY 180 DEGREES!!
It also appeared on Mr. Business' shelves in Monet Build... in the development of the game.
The reason why I removed this "item" early in development was because not only it didn't add anything cool to the game, it was also making the game harder! The controls were inversed!!!
"Lu uratu asta i s-a ars magazinu asa ca a făcut un fel de librărie. Prostu nu știe ca voi ridica chiria casei lui. 🗣🔥"
"Bro's shop was burnt so he made a library or something like that. Dumbass doesn't know I will increase his rent. 🗣🔥" (Translation)
Blash8 Games, on Twit--I meant X, 21 April 2024 at 00:32.
He is THE Mark Sebastian, the protagonist of the game.
Did you know that the drawing of him you see in the thumbnail is from an old deleted post from the Blash8 Games website about the progress of the game? After the game was released, the drawing was updated: the number showing how much of the game was done was scribbled over and replaced with 100. Here is the photo.
This is the longest blog that I have written. I really have no idea what else to type so... bye!
