Youth documentation workshop

On February 19, 2025, we hosted a language documentation workshop that brough youth, families, and Elders together to learn the tips and tricks of language documentation.

Led by CCUNESCO Youth Advisor and Indigenous language activist Aiyana Twigg, the workshop walked participants through the details of Aiyana's recently published "Safeguarding your Language through Documentation" toolkit.

Particpants received hands-on experience in documentation by creating elicitation plans with Elders, and testing out recording equipment.

We are also planning for a more comprehensive workshop series for interested youth led by Aiyana.
