Arthroscopy

Elbow

The Scopy of elbow usually is less common in-patient procedure. Usually the doctor will counsel you for this procedure only in cases resistant to physiotherapy and rehabilitation. The benefits of the procedure depends mainly on your diagnosis and post-operative expectations.

The cases with symptomatic involvement of a focal area of elbow joint or a focussed lesion benefit the most. Generalised elbow arthritis or post-traumatic arthritis patients may only do well only transiently and may become symptomatic with similar grade of symptoms soon after surgery.

The main indications for elbow arthroscopy are:

  • Osseous impingement
  • Osteochondral defect
  • Loose body removal
  • Arthrolysis and debridement
  • Synovectomy and biopsy
  • Diagnostic arthroscopy

For procedures related to Elbow instability, the procedure followed uses an open approach. We specialize in Ulnar and Lateral Ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction. With good to excellent results in expert hands, reconstruction offers promising post operative functional rehabilitation. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and the patient is allowed to mobilize the elbow after 24 hours.
