The information

What is information? James Gleick’s book The information gives an engaging overview on the role of information in the human history. He takes the reader through the development of written languages to the modern information age. The key message of the book is to decipher that information may be the key component of human existence and our universe. As biologists have shown, information of our genes was here before the mammals – and our emergent human communication may reflect that underlying biological information structure.  Perhaps biological origins of our communication partly control and affect the information exchange system in our cultures and thus we find similarities with the phenomena in biosphere and infosphere. Well, at least that’s something to think about.
