Thinking fast and slow

(22 May 2021)

Daniel Kahneman's "Thinking fast and slow" is a book that I could recommend for everyone. The nobelist shows how our thinking is biased - unconscious mistakes in our reasoning easily lead us to wrong conclusions and bad choices. Our thinking roughly consist of two systems. The other one is fast and intuitive while the other is slow but rational. Often the first one controls our choices in everyday life - and it would be a good idea to be more conscious about the functioning and biases of that rather automatic system. Rationality can efficiently lead to improved choices. The number of all sorts of biases in our thinking is surprisingly high. Kahneman's studies (life work) showed how our thinking is constantly biased, while previously it was commonly thought that humans are mostly rational but occasionally biased.
