Internal Affairs is the Blaine County Sheriff's Office overseeing body, ensuring all members and Chain of Command of our department are acting in accordance to Departmental Policies; including but not limited to the BCSO SOP and other pertinent documenation. Internal Affairs is staffed by select Chain of Command members chosen by the Sheriff. Investigators are responsible with upholding BCSO's Core Values, through thorough, impartial and swift investigations.

The BCSO Internal Affairs (IA) section of the SOP explains the process for handling complaints. It details how complaints are submitted, reviewed, and investigated, along with the duties of IA members, supervisors, and command staff in ensuring fair, impartial outcomes.

Every complaint is logged and reviewed for jurisdiction and classification. If opened, an investigator is assigned and you will be notified.

The Sheriff serves as the Director of BCSO Internal Affairs, overseeing all IA operations, assigning cases, and ensuring fairness and integrity in investigations.

The Undersheriff serves as the Deputy Director, assisting with oversight, managing case assignments, maintaining the complaint response sheet, and assuming supervisory duties when necessary.
