OVERVIEW
Corporals are the first line of leadership within the BCSO Chain of Command. They bridge the gap between deputies and higher command by mentoring probationary deputies, reviewing reports, assisting with training, and ensuring department standards are upheld. Corporals also serve as role models, setting the tone for professionalism, accountability, and leadership in the field.
The Corporal Candidacy Program is the path to this role, a structured process designed to help deputies prove their readiness for leadership. “CCP: Where Deputies Become Leaders.”

Guide deputies and provide on-the-job support

Responsibilities
Training & Mentorship
Oversee probationary deputies during stage three ride-alongs, conduct certification classes, and support the Field Training Officer Chain of Command. Provide mentorship to Master Deputies seeking advancement, offering constructive feedback and guidance
Support & Communication
Maintain an active presence in BCSO Discord channels, especially “Questions for CoC,” while acting as a resource for deputies with questions or concerns.
Administration & Oversight
Ensure new employees are accurately entered into the department database, update records after ride-alongs, and review arrest reports for accuracy and compliance with standards.
Accountability & Standards
Enforce department rules, regulations, and SOPs while monitoring deputy conduct to maintain professionalism and compliance throughout the agency.

Requirements
All application requirements for the Blaine County Sheriff's Office can be found in detail in the Standard Operating Procedure. The fundamental requirements include, but are not limited to:
Must hold the rank of Master Deputy.
Must not have received a severe Disciplinary Action within the past 30 days.
Must be an active BCSO Field Training Officer.
All applicants must successfully complete the Corporal Candidacy Process to be considered for the position.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Starting Pay:
$50,000 - 90,000/year
