Lifeguard Training Prerequisites
Participants must be at least 15 years of age.

Participants must be able to swim 20 yards, retrieve a ten-pound object from a depth of seven feet, return to the starting point, and exit the pool within one minute and 40 seconds. Both hands must be holding the object with the face at or near the surface.
There are three certifications you must have. The first is lifeguard training. This is evidence of the fact that you have passed the basic lifeguarding course. **Typically, Basic Lifeguarding and First Aid are certified together.
The second certification proves that you have attained training in first aid. First aid training has an immense importance in the profession, since lifeguards provide medical services in the cases of emergency.
The third certification proves that you have been trained in CPR/AED. Without this, you will not be considered as a certified lifeguard.
