Zinnia is a wolf who befriended a coyote named Dusty at a desert area near the interstate roads not too far from the forest she lives. But her pack members dislike how she is friends with a coyote. The alpha, Coal, is rude and strict, telling the pack members that it's bad, that coyotes are a sin. But Zinnia disagrees. If Coal finds out that Zinnia and Dusty see each other again, it's time for Zinnia to no longer be part of the pack... but maybe he's right, because Dusty could be hiding something...
