A poor island in the middle of the ocean is run by a selfish, egotistical, and greedy king who uses children as their slaves. Oliva and a couple other kids purposely break a statue of the king, because they hate him. Then they get sent out in the middle of the ocean on a small and weak wooden raft as punishment. One of the kids are afraid of water and can't swim. Hungry sharks, breaching whales, and intense thunderstorms keep them on high alert. Will they get back to the horrible island? Or will they know what true freedom feels like in another place across the ocean far far away?
