While CSX does not have heritage units in the tradition sense of painting locomotives into schemes of predeccesor railroads that have merged or been sold to create CSX, the company has dedicated some locomotives to those railroads in the form of sticker/emblem units. CSX has also dedicated some locomotives as "Spirit" units to honor certain towns or cities that have been major players in the railroad's history. The most notable of the Spirit units are the Pride in Service Spirit units that have special paint schemes to honor law enforcement, first responders, and the armed forces. I also have included shots of the CSX EMD ST70AH's that CSX owns. They only have ten (8900 - 8909) on their roster, so it's a nice challenge to collect all ten.
A "*" indicates that the locomotive has been caught leading a train.
CSX has painted three Gevos in special paint jobs, each representing a different service. CSXT honors first responders, such as firefighters and EMS staff. The CSXT 1776 honors veterans and active service individuals. The CSXT 3194 honors law enforcement staff. It should be noted, CSX is the only class 1 railroad with a paint honoring law enforcement.

CSXT 1776 Spirit of Our Armed Forces (GE ES44AH)*
CSXT 3194 Spirit of Our Law Enforcement (GE ES44AH)*
CSX has marked multiple locomotives with "spirit lettering" typically to recognize significant towns that have played significant roles in the railroad's development over the years.

CSX owns ten EMD ST70AH locomotives. Though these are not specially paint-wise, there are only ten on the roster and I personally have opted to go with the goal to see all 10 in service.

Under my roster shots of the locomotive I have seen, I have divided the sections up accordingly. Several of these shots are from videos, while others are photos that I took myself. Feel free to browse. I have divided up CSX by spirit units, sticker units, special interest units, and CSX ST70AHs. For spirit, sticker, and emblem units, I have a photo of the locomotive and the accompanying logo or sticker next to it. All photos and videos taken were taken by me.
CSXT 911 Spirit of Our First Responders leads CSX Q452 northbound on the Wildwood Subdivision in Wildwood, FL. The 1776 was DPU this day.
CSXT 1776 Spirit of Our Armed Forces leads Q317 into Cincinnati, OH. This was one of many shots I got on this lengthy chase.
This was unexpected. CSXT 3194 Spirit of Our Law Enforcement leads a Q453 in Wildwood, FL bound for Miami, FL.
CSXT 1 Spirit of West Virginia leads a southbound Q143 in Covington, KY. This is the spot where the CSX LCL Sub splits off from the CSX Cincinnati Terminal Sub. This unit has since been renumbered as CSXT 173 due to the repaint and renumber of CSXT 9993 and 9998.
CSXT 1's Spirit of West Virginia lettering. Note the missing number boards. This video/photo was taken just days before the AC44 was renumbered to CSXT 173.
CSXT 12 Spirit of Louisville trails on CSX Q352 through Lawrenceburg, IN around 8:00pm. I've missed this unit multiple times, so I was very happy to finally get it.
CSXT 12 Spirit of Louisville lettering up close on the side of the locomotive's nose.
The CSXT 391 Spirit of Dante trails on a southbound manifest heading into Cincinnati at Winton Place, OH. I did not catch the train symbol, but this was one of three special CSX engines we caught this day. We also caught 4 NS special painted locomotives as well.
The CSXT 391 Spirit of Dante lettering. This is one of the cleanest zooms I have on spirit lettering.
CSXT 439 Spirit of Birmingham trails on an Eastbound CSX Q576 late at night along River Road in Cincinnati, OH. This locomotive and train was running along CSX's Indiana Subdivision.

CSXT 454 Spirit of Magnolia trails second out of three on CSX Q217 southbound through Hamilton, OH.
CSXT 454's Spirit of Magnolia lettering up close on the side of the locomotive's nose.
CSXT 500 Spirit of Grafton heads northbound through Coleman, Florida on CSX's Wildwood Subdivision trailing on CSX Q452.
CSXT 500's Spirit of Grafton lettering on the side of the locomotive's nose.
CSXT 1234, an EMD MP15T, trails on CSX Q576 on the Indiana Subdivision with an ST70AH leading. I didn't know about this lettering until I looked back at my footage. The Spirit of Louisville lettering is on this engine because it has been assigned to Osborn Yard for several years, so it has somewhat become the yard's spirit locomotive.
The Spirit of Louisville lettering on the second "Louisville" locomotive, CSXT 1234. This lettering looks almost better than the CSXT 12's lettering, probably because the switcher gets more attention than CSXT 12.
CSXT 3341 is another unofficial spirit unit, labeled as Spirit of Jim Ervin serving as mid-DPU on Q541 on the CC subdivision.
Though it is pretty blurry, the Spirit of Jim Ervin lettering on the side of CSXT 3341's nose.
CSXT 3440 Spirit of Ravenna/KY Steam unit leads CSX Q316 Eastbound on the Cincinnati subdivsion at Melbourne, KY.
CSXT 3440's Spirit of Ravenna lettering. This locomotive was also specially designed to honor KY Steam, as seen from their logo and the L&N logo.
CSXT 5500 Spirit of Cincinnati trails on Q217 heading past New River, OH towards Cincinnati for a crew change.
CSXT 5500 Spirit of Cincinnati trails on Q217 heading past New River, OH towards Cincinnati for a crew change.
CSXT 124 Clinchfield Emblem trails South out of Cincinnati on CSX T700 bound for Stilesboro, GA. The emblem is very tiny on this one, so getting a decent shot was a bit challenging outside of video.
The Clinchfield Emblem on the side of CSXT 124. This is one of the smallest emblems and makes me wonder if a railfan placed it here.
This was a night video (and the screenshot isn't great) of CSXT 527 NCSTL Emblem trailing on Q361 at Winton Place, OH. Myself and a friend stayed out to catch some KCS Grey Ghosts and we happened to catch this.
The NC&STL Emblem up close on CSXT 527. This one was at night, but the light allowed it to reflect pretty well.
CSXT 3415 Georgia Road Emblem leads a tied down CSX G050 at KC Junction in Covington, KY on a sunny winter day.
The Georgia Road Emblem up close on CSXT 3415. This is arguably one of the best emblems on a CSX locomotive.
This was the first "special" CSX locomotive I ever caught and sadly I don't have the train symbol. CSXT 5327 trails on a CSX manifest southbound through Winton Place, OH on the Cincinnati Terminal Subdivision.
The CSXT 5327's Western Maryland Emblem up close on the side of the locomotive's nose.
CSXT 5461 Seaboard System Emblem serves as the first of two mid-DPUs on CSX Q576 headed East on the Indiana Subdivision by Marathon Gas.
The CSXT 5461 Seaboard System logo on the side of the locomotive's nose.
CSXT 1 F40PH-2 leads CSX P001 through Deshler, OH bound for Fostoria where they would crew change and head South towards Columbus for the night. CSXT 2 and 3 were in tow as well. This is former CSXT 9993.
CSXT 2 trailing second of three on CSX P001 in Deshler, OH flying track speed towards Fostoria, OH for a crew change before continuing South. This locomotive is the former CSXT 9998.
CSXT 3 trails three of three on CSX P001 just South of Fostoria, OH after a crew changing making a beeline for Columbus, OH. This unit was tough to shoot even with video due to the way it was facing. This unit is formerly CSXT 9992. The only YN3 F40 left is CSXT 9999.
CSXT 559 sporting a Leslie RS3K leads CSX E040 North at Wildwood, FL. This was a complete surpise catch!
The CSXT 940 leads Q203 on to the Callahan Sub off of the Nahunta Sub. This is not an official Spirit unit, but seeing the hand-painted logo is pretty cool.
CSXT 4384 leads CSX J787 South passed Latonia, KY back to Worthville, KY. This unit formerly had a clinchfield emblem on the nose, hence why the nose is an altered paint.
CSXT 6900 which formerly sported a Chessie System sticker on the front leads CSX Y126 North past Winton Place, OH. When the sticker was removed, the residue collected dirt, thus leaving the logo still visible.
CSXT 6957 sits solo in Taft, FL in local service. This is the last of two EMD Geeps that still retain their YN2 paint. This one looks particularly good.
The CSXT 9969 "Geometry Locomotive" which is a GP40WH-2 leads CSX W003 North from Wildwood, FL to Baldwin, FL on the Wildwood Sub.
CSXT 9993, one of four F40PH-2s leads a CSX OCS (P918) northbound in Richmond, KY on the CC Subdivision.
CSXT 9998 trailing second on the CSX P918 office car special on the CC Sub in Richmond, KY.
CSXT 9999 trails on CSX W003 through the LCL Sub, just behind CSXT 9969. For whatever reason CSX chose to add one of the F40PH-2s to the geometry train that day, so I knocked out two birds with one stone, or should I say train.

I have included this section to show off the different common paint schemes seen on CSX locomotives around the system. There are currently four schemes commonly seen on CSX locomotives: YN2, YN3, YN3B, and YN3W (website logo). There are also a very small handful of stealth schemed locomotives remaining, but I have not been lucky enough at this time to see one in person.
A CSX YN2 schemed AC44CW leads a CSX Q453 in Wildwood, FL. Trailing behind is a YN2 Dash 8.
A typical YN3 Gevo leads Q217 southbound autorack train through Winton Place, OH.
A CSX YN3B scheme ST70AH leads Q541 at KC Junction in Covington, KY.
The newest CSX paint railfans have dubbed YN3W (website logo) trails on Q576 on the Indiana Subdivsion.
