Several class one railroads have painted heritage units to honor fallen flag railroads that have been bought or merged with the class one to form the company it is today. Of the seven class one railroads, four of the seven currently have painted heritage units. Union Pacific (UP) has 6, Norfolk Southern (NS) has 20 (or 21 if NS 1700 is counted), Canadian Pacific (CP) has 10 (5 "block" scheme and 5 "script" scheme, plus 5 paints to branches of the military), and Canadian National (CN) has 5. The Burling Northern & Santa Fe (BNSF) does not have painted heritage units, but they have created 10 "25th Anniversary" locomotives that have 8 stickers of the predecessor railroads that form BNSF, as well as locomotives that still retain original Santa Fe and Burlington Northern paint schemes. Kansas City Southern has 3 special painted locomotives on their roster. CSX Transportation has 3 F40PH locomotives painted in a predecessor Baltimore & Ohio paint scheme (with CSX Transportation on their side), as well as 3 pride in service locomotives. They also have sticker/emblem units with stickers of former railroads, though they are not hertitage units. Finally, Amtrak, though not a class one, has several heritage units painted in former Amtrak paint schemes. All photos on my website are taken by me or from videos I have taken for my YouTube channel. If I do have not caught a locomotive, then I do not have it listed, nor have a photo of it. Feel free to browse the tabs with my different shots of locomotives from the railroads.
