Getting to Heraklion [HER]
By Air: The principal airport in Crete is Heraklion International Airport, “Nikos Kazantzakis” (airport code: HER). It is the closest airport to the venue.
It is located about 5 km east of the city centre of Heraklion and is directly connected to Athens International Airport (airport code: ATH) with several daily domestic flights run by Aegean Airlines, and SkyExpress Airlines. The flight duration from/to Athens is about 35min. During the summer period, there are also many direct scheduled airline connections from major European cities as well as many charter flights from most European countries.

By Boat: It is also possible to arrive by boat from Piraeus (major port of Greece) to Heraklion as Minoan lines and ANEK lines provide daily ferry services from and towards Crete. In particular, at least two ferry boats sail daily to Heraklion from Piraeus. The boats sail in the evening (usually around 9-10 pm) and reach their destination early in the morning (around 5:30-6:00 am) after an 8-9 hour journey.
Getting to the venue, Kalimera Kriti Hotel & Village Resort, at Sissi
Kalimera Kriti Hotel & Village Resort is idyllically located on the outskirts of the quaint and photogenic fishing village of Sissi near the ancient town of Malia and its Minoan Palace of 2000 B.C.
The distance from Heraklion Airport is aprox. 40km.
The best and easiest way to get to the venue is by taxi.
CCBS Greece offers the following transfer options for the Microquasar Workshop Participants:
Option 1. Private Arrival Taxi Transfer Offer:
You can order a private taxi for your transfer to the venue, at the date/time of your chosing. The driver will be waiting for you at the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name, so you can meet him.
Taxi: A taxi can take up to 4 passengers depending on their luggage.
The special rate for the workshop participants from Heraklion Airport to the venue is 65 € per taxi each way.
Option 2. Shuttle Transfer offer:
Sunday May 21st, there will be 4 shuttle transfers from Heraklion Airport to KalimeraKriti on fixed times:
Shuttle No 1. Departure at 12:00pm
Shuttle No 2. Departure at 15:00pm
Shuttle No 3. Departure at 18:00pm
Shuttle No 4. Departure at 21:00pm
The special rate per person per Shuttle Transfer is 18 €
Your Private taxi Arrival transfer or Shuttle arrival Transfer, can be booked via the main online registration form.
Follow the instructions on the form to make the payment via credit/debit card or bank transfer.
Please note:
The Shuttle transfer will make stops only to the venue Kalimera Kriti Resort and the rest of the loggings booked by CCBS. If you make your own accommodation arrangements to other hotel/apartment in the area, you can get off at one of the stops and walk to your logging.
The private transfer service will be available and confirmed for bookings received through the main online registration link until Monday May 15, 2023.
Once the payment of the transfer service is received, we will email you with a final confirmation of the transfer, the meeting point and the contact details.
Transfer services are non refundable.
Departure Private Taxis and Shuttle transfers will be announced and arranged on site through the conference secretariat.
