Lazy Daisy
by Adelynn Carlton
You sit there with your furry face on your paws by the window,
Your golden fur blows in the wind and your brown eyes watch the tomato garden closely.
You roll on your back for a belly rub and always sniff but never lick.
You’re as stubborn as a donkey.
I wish you had more time to live with me.
You smell like the pollen in the flowers and the leaves in the trees.
Cute, Crazy, Paws, and Perfection
You're named after Daisy Duck and it fits you well, you are lazy like her.
Adelynn… (A Who are we? Poem)
by Adelynn Carlton
Has the goal of entering government when older.
Wants to go to California to see family and visit Disneyland.
Loves my crazy dogs, Padme and Tinkerbell.
Would give up going out to help my grandparents.
Is happiest when I swim in my Grandma’s pool.
Believes in dragons.
Balloons, Fashion, and Italy
By Adelynn Carlton
Emily climbed the stairs of the Tower of Pisa successfully. It was a challenge due to the slanted effect of the leaning tower. When she was at the top, the view was breathtaking. Then, something very strange happened. First, a bright red balloon flew near her. She grabbed the balloon in the middle of the string and the balloon doubled! Emily grabbed the string at the bottom and nothing happened. When the strings were grabbed at the top, they tripled! She tried to run down the stairs, but due to her heels and the leaning, it was necessary to walk. The bells rang and all six balloons disappeared.
The next day, Emily awoke in her hotel room at the Italiano Bed and Breakfast. Emily had a job interview for a fashion company as a model. Emily was sure she was going to get the job, and with seven Miss America titles and one Miss Universe title, so she was not worried at all. When Emily got out of bed, she froze, her expression blank. The balloons from the night before were tied to one of the chairs in Emily’s room. She slowly walked towards the chair and grabbed the balloons. There was no note or anything. Emily was scared by these balloons. So, she decided to get rid of them. With her empty hand, she grabbed a pair of purple scissors and tried to pop a red balloon, but it would not budge. Feeling discouraged, she decided to give up. Emily got ready for her interview wearing a white shirt and purple jumpsuit with heels. She had her hair half-up, half-down. Then, she left for her interview.
When she came back, she was so excited. She had gotten the job and was starting on Monday! Although she still needed to figure out how to get rid of the balloons, she started working right after she got home. She started finding prints and inspiration. Emily also wrote a three page explanation about why she wanted the company to start sending money to kids in Africa that were unhealthy.
Monday was finally here. Emily left for work in a red skirt and a white blouse, feeling excited. Her hair was in a tight bun with a red ribbon. At the job interview, they gave her an address for the building she would be working at. She entered the address into her Google maps and got in her car. Then, she left for the fashion company.
For an eight hour job, Emily got home really early. Actually, it was not even a job! The interviewer only gave her a sticky note with the address but nothing else. It was a trick. Someone sent her to a dark and creepy graveyard! It had many R.I.P. tombstones and the ground was soft. She only spent an hour out of the hotel room when she saw the balloons. She had a lightbulb moment, and a plan hatched in her head! Emily was already a multimillionaire and wanted some sort of occupation. She could not get rid of the balloons, so she decided to make a balloon store online.
Emily sat down on the comfy bed with her computer. She looked for platforms that would help her build her own website for her company. She would donate the money she got to African children who were poor and unhealthy. Emily would be leaving for her hometown in California in the afternoon and would arrive late at night, so she decided to create her website tomorrow on the plane. But for now, she would go see Italy!
