I teach because it brings me joy. Children are beautifully resilient and see the world in a way that truly inspires me. Their curiosity makes me excited to go to work everyday and grateful that I get to share in their learning. I have always loved spending time with my little cousins which initially ignited my passion for this career. As I spent more time in a teaching role, I discovered that there was no better feeling than helping a young mind make sense of something. Building meaningful relationships with students is how I promote learning in my classroom.
Community is one of the main reasons I decided to become an educator. I am from Brighton, MI where I grew up with a very strong sense of pride and belonging. I will always look back on my K-12 experience fondly which is something I want for my future students. Finding a district where the students, staff, families, and community all support each other through shared bonds was a huge priority of mine. I now work at Walled Lake Elementary which has a very strong sense of community. It is a small school with families and staff that truly care about the area and have school pride! Go Tigers!
My family means the world to me. I am incredibly fortunate to have a supportive family who loves me unconditionally. Spending time with both my immediate and extended family brings me such joy. I have built in best friends among my cousins and brothers which is something I will be forever grateful for.
I am extremely blessed in the friend department. It almost feels unjust to call them friends because they truly are a second family to me. I was lucky enough to attend MSU with my best friends from childhood and additionally form new lifelong connections during college. Now a days, my friends and I love to be active outside and enjoy summer days on the lake.
Sports are another huge passion of mine. I love to watch them, play them, and be involved in any way. As a part of my Master's program, I am pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Sport Coaching. I believe that the type of community and character building sports create is unmatched. I also love to read books from the local public library and watch TV shows with friends or family. Sharing things with the people I love is my favorite part of life.
