Introduction
Aside from being an Editor-Chief, I also hold a large role in our social media. Whether it's creating informative graphics or engaging videography content, I am always up for it.
At CSPA, a journalism convention, I joined a conference about social media. During the conference, the speaker said, "For something to be iconic, it needs to be repeated." This stuck with me ever since and has shown through my work on the Regulus social media pages.
Media Productions
As an aspiring film production student, I will always try to include my passions in Regulus Yearbook. I did this by creating short videos (~1-2 minutes) for our Instagram page. The videos ranged from fun montages of our convention trips to informative interviews with Film Studies teachers. I shot and edited all the videos, and am eager to share my interests through Regulus Yearbook and with the social media community. Since we took leadership in April of 2024, we doubled in following and gained over 22k views on our posts.
Instagram Stories
Another way I utilize our social media platform is through our Instagram stories. For instance, I use our stories as a way to remind students where to pick up their yearbooks, updates on spring supplements, or ask students a quick survey question to get content for spreads. Through this, we gained a lot of recognition, profiting from yearbook sales, and assisted students at South who had questions about certain events or yearbook-related topics.
Graphics
You already know how much I love Canva, so I won't bore you with my ongoing rant, however, Canva became a great way to create graphics for our Instagram page. I created a club photo day graphic that surprisingly gained us over 50 followers in one week. With a school of over 120+ clubs, it's hard to know when your club is being photographed, so this graphic was a huge help. We gained a lot of exposure from it, and it was incredibly beneficial for South students.
Planning
Unfortunately, these ideas don't just come out of nowhere, instead, they require a lot of planning and preparation. I work with our social media manager to create these videos and we have a shared planning document to organize our ideas. I also have a "Favorites" folder on TikTok where I have all of the inspirations and ideas I see online.
