From Pain to Purpose: The Birth of Mia House of Publishing

Welcome to The Mia House of Publishing and Distribution Group—a place where stories of hope are born, and lives are changed through the written word.

Our journey didn’t begin in a boardroom or with a business plan. It started in brokenness.

In January 2009, I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder after a nervous breakdown. Trauma and stress had worn me down, and my life felt like it was falling apart. I was placed on temporary disability and spent four years focused on healing—body, mind, and soul.

But God had a greater plan.

In October 2014, I gave my heart to Jesus. That moment of surrender became the turning point. I experienced a freedom I hadn't known in years. While challenges in the workplace persisted—including bullying and a return of depression—I thought my story was over. 

But ... It was just beginning.

After being retrenched and battling feelings of inadequacy, I began writing. Inspired by my own healing and the devastating loss of someone close to me through suicide, I felt a deep desire to bring hope to others. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I published my first daily devotional with short, uplifting stories.

Since then, I’ve self-published numerous books—all written to inspire, uplift, and remind people that they are stronger than what tries to break them.

The Spark That Lit the Flame

In October 2021, while talking with my husband in our kitchen, I felt a divine prompting. It was time to start something bigger—something that would reach beyond my own writing. A publishing house that would amplify messages of light, faith, and restoration.

That very month, on 14 October 2021—exactly seven years after I gave my life to Christ—Mia House of Publishing was officially born with my "then business partner," Sonja Pitzer.

What We Stand For

Our mission is clear:
To flood the world with the Good News and messages of hope.
To publish books that bring light, laughter, healing, transformation, and life.
To stand beside those who are hurting and remind them that they are never alone.

 We believe in the power of testimonies, and that every person has a purpose—even in the pain.

We’re more than just a Publisher. We’re a ministry. A movement. A home for voices that speak healing, truth, and grace into the world.

 There’s so much more to our journey—and maybe one day, we’ll share it in another book. But for now, know this: we love what we do. And we’re here to help others turn their darkest moments into testimonies of triumph.
