James L. Walters was a resident of the Children's Homes from 1946 to 1953
James L. Walters, 87, husband of Alice C. (Williams) Walters, Collegeville, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2025, in Phoenixville Hospital.
Born on September 18,1937, in Trappe, PA, Jim was the son of the late Edwin H. Walters and the late Estella (Oberdorf) Walters Hettrick. He was graduated from Elizabethtown High School and went on to have a successful career as a computer programmer with Techalloy in Rahns, PA, and Uniform Tube in Trappe, before retiring.
Jim was a man of many interests. He enjoyed reading, working on crossword/Suduko puzzles and following Philadelphia sports teams. He had a quiet sense of humor that warmed the hearts of those around him. Most of all, he cherished time with his family - especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild, who brought him great pride and joy. He loved to go see Zach run cross-country races and Christopher do Special Olympics.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, Jim is survived by his daughter, Kim M., wife of the late Christopher Murray, Birdsboro; his grandsons, Christopher Murray and Zachary Murray, fiancée of Emily McCurdy; his great-grandson, Luca Murray; and his brothers, Richard, husband of Rebecca (Richards) Walters, Boulder City, NV, and David Eugene, husband of Ethel Walters, Washington.
Jim was preceded in death by his son, James L. Walters, Jr., and his siblings, Edwin Walters, III, Robert Walters, Ruth Walters, Ellen Oberholtzer, Edna Barges, John Walters, Harold Walters, Frank Walters, Mildred Strunk, Donald Walters, and Dawn Walters.
