What salary and benefits do you offer?
Our salary scale for trainees can be found here. Trainees also receive a yearly stipend of $10,500 to help defray costs of living, licensure, or other needs as determined by each individual. This stipend is paid as a lump sum early in the academic year. Trainees are represented by a union (Committee of Interns and Residents of the Service Employees International Union ).
How do you support new parents?
Our leave policy provides up to 8 weeks of leave for new parents, including adoptive and foster parents. Additional paid leave is available under the Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave policy. Breastfeeding parents have access to lactation rooms and equipment. Is moonlighting allowed?
We permit moonlighting in the 2nd and 3rd years of fellowship, subject to program director approval and compliance with pertinent visa restrictions.
What support is offered for wellness and mental health?
We recognize that medical training is a challenging process. Program leadership is always available to talk through concerns. Outside our program, the Trainee Assistance Program offers free and confidential support for fellows both on an appointment basis and in urgent situations. The Department of Pediatrics sponsors a coaching program in which each fellow is paired with a trained physician coach outside their division to offer guidance in identifying strengths and goals. Do you sponsor visas for international applicants?
We welcome applications from physicians from around the world! We sponsor J-1 visas; other visa types may be available depending on individual circumstance. The MGB Office for Global Professionals and Scholars has trained staff to assist international applicants. In general, applicants will have completed ACGME or ACGME-I residencies. We are able to offer exceptions to this policy for well-qualified applicants - please reach out to us directly early in the application process to discuss.
