SUSTAINABILITY OVERVIEW
Sustainability is a core value of our Sustainability committee (formerly known as the SWAG committee). We believe in being respectful of our local community, and that starts with being mindful of minimizing the toll that our school activities take on our land and our air. Throughout the year, we seek opportunities to promote sustainable practices within and around the school and to bring greater awareness of caring for Planet Earth to all MES students.

SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES
Throughout the year, the SWAG hosts regular opportunities for our community to come together and keep our campus beautiful.
MES loves Earth Week! Each spring, our Sustainability committee organizes events to celebrate and care for our planet. Last year, we held a park cleanup, a Walk to School day, introduced goats for eco-friendly lawn care, and made solar bead bracelets. Check back in the Spring for details on this year’s Earth Week activities!
Field Day is a highlight of the year, filled with sun, fun, and friendly competition! Coach Campbell and the Field Day Committee have exciting plans for the day, and parents are welcome to volunteer and cheer on our Dolphins!
Look forward to dedicated zones, including superhero-themed field games, a dance party, and art projects and popsicles in the amphitheater. Students should wear athletic clothing and t-shirts. They’ll be outside for most of the day, so apply sunscreen, and bring water bottles and morning snacks.
At MES, our central garden space supports STEM classes and outdoor lessons year-round. The PTA Sustainability committee helps maintain the garden and organizes activities to support this special area.
Our Sustainability committee organizes health and wellness activities throughout the year, including Global Handwashing Day, Walk to School Days, and Smoothie Days. Stay tuned for details on our upcoming wellness events!
Help us keep MES from becoming MESS! Please make a regular habit of checking the MES Lost and Found for any of your family's treasures that may have gone missing around the school
