Dasotsava - “Bhava Tharanga”

It was held on February 16, 2018 at the Indian Community Senior School, Salmiya. The cultural committee headed by Smt. Sourabha Vikram produced a well-directed and exquisitely timed program. Several competitions were held for the kids which included fancy dress, recitations, and acts. Special theme of the evening - “Bhava Tharanga” had a richly enacted dance drama “Kalachakra” which was conceptualized by Smt. Sourabha Vikram and her team depicting the major YUGAS – the Satya yuga, the Threta yuga, the Dwapara yuga and the Kali yuga. The ‘Nagara Bhajane’ was well directed by Shri Suresh Saliyan presented by the kids of Koota.

The executive committee of the Koota for 2017 was felicitated. The first literary publication of the year, the “Marala Mallige” magazine containing articles, poems, art work, information, etc was released. The executive committee also felicitated all the successful class 10th and 12th students of Koota with a token of appreciation. Bhajans by the ladies of Koota and a series of Bhajans by the gents Bhajane Mandali were performed.

Marala Mallige day - “Pratibha Ranga”

Marala Mallige day named as “Pratibha Ranga” was conducted at Indian Community School Khaithan Auditorium on Friday, May 11th, 2018. The well thought out event and innovative competitions and activities were conducted by the Marala Mallige team: ably led by Convener Smt. Veena Giridhar and her team. In one of the competitions, all the four house captains came up with humorous and apt skits on the theme “Doddannana Mane”, based on Big Boss. The highlight of the evening was the Speech and stand-up comedy by the Chief Guest, Rajyostava Awardee, Hasya Chakravarthi of Karnataka and immensely popular literary speaker Prof Krishne Gowda. His talk on the Kannada language & literature mesmerized the audience.

Sports Day - “Sogasaata Saviyoota”

The indoor picnic and sports event named as “Sogasaata Saviyoota” was held on 21, September 2018 at American International School, Kuwait. The dynamic Sports Committee of KKK lead by Shri Ratnakar Shetty took the responsibility of conducting the sports and games event supported by four-house captains. The event also contemplates on conducting carrom, chess and table tennis as team events.

The house captains also led 4 sections of the food mela with the all-ladies team of Smt Sujaya Shetty heading the ‘Kairuchi-Chat’ section, Rashmitha Shetty taking lead of ‘Karavali Khanavali’, Spoorthy Kamat commanding the Bangalore-Mysore teaser ‘Aramane Authana’ and Madhuri Katti controlling the North Karnataka tasters ‘Nammora Aduge mane’.

Rajyotsava - “Kala Tharanga”

Rajyotsava with the theme of “Kala Tharanga” was held on December 7, 2018 by Kannada Koota with great magnificence at the Cambridge School, Mangaf. The occasion was graced by the renowned actor ex-Karnataka Minister Padmasri Umashri and she was accompanied by Television fraternity and Doordarshan anchor Sri Basappa Basavaraj Arabagatta. The well planned mesmerizing cultural programs were directed and executed beautifully by the Convenor Srimati Sourabha Vikram and the team. The Kala Taranga program included Swara Madhurya - Kannada Patriotic song medley, Natyataranga - Sequence of Natyataranga – Bharathanatyam, Salsa, Manipuri, Hawaiian, Gujarathi folk, Tribal dance of Nagaland, Mohiniattam, Koli, Chinese, Bihu, Kangilu, Kathak, Yakshagana, Natyataranga finale (Namma Vachana), ‘Belli Thereya Belaku’ - Tribute to Kannada Cinema. Icing on the cake was the dialogue delivery of Srimati Umasri. Umasri enacted and relived the character ‘Sakavva’ of the drama ‘Odalala’. The audience thoroughly enjoyed this amazing acting by Umashri.

The Rajyotsava program which was earlier planned on November 16th got postponed to December 7th due to heavy rains and floods. The Executive Committee undaunted by the hurdles, worked along with other committees with great enthusiasm and arranged and executed the function to a grand success.
