This VTPO is a hybrid theatre organ combining ranks from the Redford Barton 3/10 and the Wyton House Compton 4/16, hence the name Brompton, which is also the name of a fashionable district in London. Barton organs are famous for their sweet sound - they were known as the 'golden voiced Bartons'. The addition of Compton ranks adds body and dynamism to the organ while maintaining sympathy with the original sound style. The Brompton 3/18 was inspired by a custom VTPO requested by a client. This sample set combines the complete stop list of the Redford Barton 3/10 sample set with the following additional ranks from the Wyton House Compton:
Tibia Minor
Stopped Flute
Strings (2rks)
Vox Humana
Trumpet
Krummet
French Horn
Vibraphone
The blending of these two instruments together has been made much more natural than for some other digitally constructed instruments by the fact that the microphone point acoustics of the recordings at the Redford Theatre and Wyton House are virtually identical. This means that the original semi-wet samples are used, without having to artificially dry (reduce the reverb of) them.
Graphics and Hauptwerk programming by Olivia Nagioff, assisted by Stephen Ades. For more information on the samples please see Barton Theatre Organ Series and Wyton House Compton.
