Shown is a graph comparing Melbourne and Sydney's populations. Although Sydney currently has the largest population of any city in Australia, Melbourne is expected to pass it within the next few years. This is because Melbourne has a higher growth rate.
Melbourne has the largest growth rate out of any city in Australia and is expected to surpass Sydney and become the largest city in Australia within the next few years. This means that with more and more people in the city, there needs to be more public transit. Otherwise, problems such as increased wait time, congestion, and frequent breakdowns are more likely to occur.
