For this project, I worked with a partner, where our objective was to conduct research and compare two global communities and their use and availability of technology. I researched Japan, and my partner researched Greece and we separately documented our findings on Microsoft Word. Together, we shared our research via Microsoft PowerPoint, where we highlighted similarities and differences of Japan and Greece.
In this project, I learned so much about Japan and Greece. I thought that we wouldn't find much similarities between both countries, as they seem so different, linguistically, regionally, and ethnically, however, they had much more in common than we thought. For example, I learned that both Japan and Greece are currently facing struggles with a decrease in their population growth as they both have low birth rates and an increasing aging population.
Technologically, as Greece and Japan have a big aging population, there is a digital divide as many elders are not as digitally active because they simply don't know how to use the internet and technology, such as computers, as effectively.
When completing this project, both my partner and I worked separately researching our own countries, and collaborated together to complete to presentation together. We used PowerPoint on the cloud to work on the project so we could collaborate online when we couldn't physically work together at the same time, which was very helpful.
