There’s something about the ocean that makes time feel softer.
This weekend, I’m sitting on the beach with my husband and daughter, listening to the waves and realizing how quickly life moves when you aren’t paying attention. Somewhere between laundry piles, busy schedules, grocery runs, unanswered texts, and trying to keep up with everything all at once… the days start blending together. Then suddenly, the tiny hand you once held so carefully is reaching for independence instead.
Motherhood has been the greatest reminder to slow down.
Not because life magically becomes less chaotic, newsflash, it doesn’t, but because the little moments are the ones that end up mattering most. The sleepy cuddles after a long day. Sticky fingers wrapped around yours. Laughing over absolutely nothing. Watching the sunset while your kiddo digs in the sand beside you. These moments feel ordinary while they’re happening, but somehow they become the memories we carry forever.
I think that kind of love exists far beyond motherhood too.
To the women still waiting for motherhood.
To the women who mother through friendship, mentorship, teaching, caregiving, loving, encouraging, showing up, and protecting.
To the Bonus Moms.
To the women healing their inner child while helping someone else feel safe.
To the ones who nurture simply because it’s who they are.
You matter deeply.
The world moves fast, and is constantly asking us what’s next, but maybe life was never meant to be rushed through. Maybe the real beauty is found in learning how to stay present long enough to notice it.
So this Mother’s Day, I hope you let yourself slow down a little.
I hope you take the photo.
I hope you stay for the sunset.
I hope you hold the people you love a little longer.
And I hope you remember that even the quietest love leaves the biggest impact.
Happy Mother’s Day!
