There’s something about summer that makes life feel louder.
The days are longer, calendars fuller, group chats busier, and somehow the laundry still multiplies overnight. It feels like everyone is moving all at once; growing all at once, and this summer, I can feel that happening in my own life too.
My daughter is in that almost-there stage of potty training, which somehow feels like the perfect metaphor for this season of life. So much progress. So many tiny wins. So many moments where I think, “Okay, we’ve got it now,” followed immediately by another accident and a deep sigh from both of us. Growth rarely arrives all at once. Sometimes it comes in messy little waves.
At the same time, my work has been growing in ways I used to quietly hope for. My social media management freelancing has picked up speed, new clients have walked into my life, and my weeks are suddenly full of meetings, brainstorming sessions, and community-building conversations, that leave me both exhausted and deeply grateful.
Recently, I was also invited to become a creative collaborator for a brand I genuinely love. The kind of opportunity that makes you pause for a second because younger you would’ve been so excited to know this version of life existed one day.
It’s all beautiful, and if I’m being truthful, it’s also a little overwhelming.
I think summer has a way of exposing both things at once: the blooming and the burnout. The life wins and the growing pains. The excitement and the exhaustion. Somehow, they all can coexist, but lately I’ve been trying to remind myself that being stretched doesn’t always mean being broken. Sometimes it simply means you’re expanding into a life you once hoped for.
So, if your summer feels full too, if your days feel chaotic, meaningful, messy, exciting, and exhausting all at once, maybe that doesn’t mean you’re falling behind. Maybe it means you’re in a growing season.
And growing seasons are rarely neat while you’re living through them.
