Automated detection of Gamma-Ray Bursts using AstroSat

Plot of a CZTI lightcurve for a bright GRB after processing

As part of the STAR lab team at IIT Bombay, I work on automating the pipeline for detecting Gamma-Ray burst candidates from the CZTI payload onboard the Astrosat satellite (India's first dedicated multi-wavelength space telescope).

My main focus is improving the pipeline for GRB detection and reducing the turnaround time for blind searches for GRB candidates and triggered searches for Electromagnetic Counterparts of Gravitational Wave (EMGW) candidates for binary mergers of compact objects. I'm also working on studying the properties of GRBs and the physics of compact object mergers using the X-ray data from CZTI.
