Featured Resource: PEN America

PEN America has created the Knowing the News curriculum, a series of virtual media literacy activities. They also provide a series of Tip Sheets on current topics such as How to Talk to Friends and Family Who Share Misinformation, a Guide for Combating Protest Disinformation, a Guide on COVID-19 and Disinformation, and 

How to Prevent the Spread of Disinformation About Russia’s War on Ukraine. They also provide workshops and research reports.

Lexicon of Lies: A Guide to Terms for Problematic Information reviews the meanings of a variety of terms related to problematic information, and explores the places where those meanings break down or become complicated. The teaching resources can be used in undergraduate and graduate level classes. to inform  i classroom discussions of current events around “fake news,” “post-truth,” media manipulation, or disinformation.
