Media Literacy Toolkit

Overview

This Toolkit was compiled by Leslie Garvin, a 2022-23 UC National Center for Free Speech and Civic Engagement Fellow in an effort to collect resources for higher education institutions seeking support to disrupt misinformation and disinformation on their campus through information and media literacy.  While the focus is on resources applicable to college students, the list does contain K-12 resources as well. This document is a work-in-progress so we invite you to share additional resources using the Resource Submission Form.

This resource was created specifically to support higher education staff and administrators who expressed a desire to address misinformation and disinformation, but did not know quite where to begin. While we were able to find examples of faculty creating courses focused on media literacy, there were very few co-curricular initiatives. This resource is tailored to administrators and staff who work in co-curricular settings, offering tools and resources to design programming for students, but we believe these resources can also enhance curricular course design.

This Toolkit is intended to be open source and co-created. If you have would like your resource included, please submit the Resource Submission Form.
