EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
So with any relationship, I believe that it is important to know a little bit about the person. I am originally from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and in 2003, I migrated to the United States because I received a scholarship to attended Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL. In 2007, I graduated with a Bachelors in Science in Economics, Business Administration. After I graduated, I was hired by the University to work in the Office for Students with Disabilities. During my 4 years with the department I went on to pursue my Masters in Applied Social Sciences in Public Administration with FAMU.
In 2011, I was hired by Florida State University Foundation, where I stayed until 2015. During my time with FSU, I acquired a Masters in International Business from Florida International University (FIU) in 2014. Because I missed easy access to the beach (Tallahassee is 2 ½ hrs. from any beach location), I made the decision to move from North Florida to South Florida.
In 2015, I moved to West Palm Beach, where I was hired by a local Palm Beach County non-profit that battled local homelessness, The Lord’s Place (TLP). At TLP, I was employed as the Director of Advancement and was responsible for the organization’s fundraising activities. During that same year, I was successfully accepted into the Doctoral Program at St. Thomas University, where I pursued a Doctorate in Education in Leadership and Management.
Because of my doctoral pursuit, I soon realized that I was missing academia and I decided to transition back into the higher education arena. In 2016, I was hired by the University of Miami, as an Assistant Director with Development and Alumni Resources. Later in 2018, I was promoted to Director of Gift Acceptance and a few months later in January 2019, I successfully defended my dissertation “The New Old Boys Club: A Phenomenological Study Examining Upper-Level Female Leaders un Nonprofit Organizations. As a result of my successful defense, in May 2019 I was conferred a Doctorate of Education in Leadership and Management.
