1. What are the preferred methods of communicating with the instructor?
The preferred methods of communicating with Dr. Solange is via email. She usually responds to student emails within 24hrs. Her email address is scharle4@mdc.edu.
2. Why is logging in regularly and reading announcements helpful to succeeding online?
Logging onto the course home page consistently each week is associated with higher grades for students according to several studies on online student behavior. Get into the habit of checking in consistently, even daily, to read discussion posts, check for instructor announcements and/or review course materials. While you are logged on, get involved and be an active participant in discussions. Though threaded discussions may appear daunting when you first get started, everyone has something of value to contribute. By logging on consistently each week, reading and responding to classmate postings, you will begin to feel part of a community, and enhance your learning experience at the same time.
3. Where are the assignment due dates located?
The assignment due dates can be found in the following areas:

4. Is late work accepted?
This is a 6-week course or 8–week course, therefore, late or missed assignments will not be accepted. No exceptions. You are responsible for submitting work by the due date/time. Assignments must be turned in by 11:59pm of the due date. You are more than welcomed to submit work early (but not late). If you should miss class, it is your responsibility to complete the work and follow up on what you have missed in class by contacting a classmate. The instructor is not responsible for reminding students about missing work and learning what they have missed in class.
5. What is the policy for making up an exam?
If you have missed an exam or are going to miss the exam for a viable reason, you are to contact Dr. Solange immediately to schedule a makeup.
6. Where is technical support information located?
ANY Technical Information is located under the MDC TECH TALK Module in the left-hand ribbon.
7. What does substantive mean in regards to discussion posts?
In terms of discussion posts, each student must submit 2-3 paragraphs to the discussion thread, with each paragraph being comprised of 8-10 sentences.
8. How are the learning materials, such as readings, videos and lectures helpful?
Effective usage of proper learning resources helps students to construct more than superficial knowledge. It allows them to build in depth knowledge on a particular subject and also develop their individual learning strategies, values, attitudes and generic skills. In this age of technological advancement learning and teaching resources are not confined to textbooks, they are also available in several different forms like reference books, workbooks, worksheets, web-based learning materials, computer based learning, structured coursework and audio-visual teaching aids. Libraries and learning communities also serve as effective tools in the natural environment of learning (Savery, 2015).
9. What happens if a student plagiarizes material?
All students are expected to meet the College’s academic conduct standards. Acts of academic misconduct, including cheating, plagiarism, misrepresentation, and facilitating academic dishonesty will be referred to the Academic Dean. Students who break the College’s academic conduct standards will be charged with misconduct charges. 10 . Are there extra credit opportunities?
Yes, there are a few extra credit (bonus) opportunities built into the course and a few SURPRISE ones as well.
