There are many ways to get involved with Sunset Ridge PTA. Below is a list of of the PTA committees that are in need of people to help ensure these programs and events are successful at our school. By getting involved you are contributing to the success of your child’s school community, meeting other parents and having fun. All volunteers are appreciated! 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

VOLUNTEER APPLICATION: All MCPASD volunteers will need to fill out this online application and background check.  This is required to volunteer for recess, lunchroom duty and field trips.

SUN RUN: This event is geared toward motivating our students to be healthy and active! This all-school run will happen during the school day. This is one of our larger events. The committee will coordinate sponsorships, volunteers, music/food, racecourse logistics, advertising and more!

Chair: Needed for 2024 

We need volunteers to help with planning and day-of activities like lap counting, setup, and take-down. 

TIE-DYE T-SHIRTS:  Students tie-dye a school t-shirt in art class each year and wear them on field trips and school assembly days. The chair person distributes order forms in late spring and orders white t-shirts with the school logo on them to be tie-dyed the following fall. Extras are ordered for new incoming families.

SCHOOL DIRECTORY: Sunset Ridge offers a school directory for a nominal fee. The committee compiles contact info provided by the MCPASD district, organizes directory data, coordinates with the printing company, collects orders and distributes the printed directories.

MIDDLETON HS HOMECOMING PARADE: Represent Sunset Ridge Elementary in the Middleton High School Homecoming Parade. This committee will coordinate a float, student participants, etc.

TRUNK OR TREAT:  A school favorite, participating families decorate their car trunks and hand out candy in the school parking lot.  Students come in costume to trick or treat with their Sunset Ridge friends. The committee is responsible for soliciting families to decorate vehicles, coordinating attendees, securing a DJ for the event, managing concessions, supplying allergy-free candy, etc.

YEARBOOK: Coordinate with HR Imaging to create a yearbook that showcases the events of the school year. Committee members are needed to take photos at school events, field trips, etc. and coordinate with others to submit photos.

Event Date: Ongoing throughout the school year.

Chairs: Michelle Spyult

STAFF APPRECIATION: Breakfasts, lunches and dinners are provided for the staff during conferences, teacher appreciation week, and at the end of the year. The committee is responsible for planning and coordinating the event as well as getting volunteers to send various food or related items for the meals and managing set-up/clean up.

COMMUNITY FUNDRAISING: Coordinate meals and events with local restaurants.  In the past we have partnered with Culver’s, Pizza Hut, Which Wich, Monk’s, and more!

ART TO REMEMBER: Collaborate with Art to Remember and the art teacher for unique art inspired purchases. Every student creates a special piece of artwork that is sent to Art to Remember where it is transformed into keepsakes that make perfect Holiday gifts.

Chairs: VOLUNTEER NEEDED FOR 2023-24

WINTER TEA AND ART SHOWCASE: A cherished school tradition. The gym is transformed into a winter wonderland with decorations, lights, and artwork from every student. Families from all grades donate cookies for this event and the MHS Orchestra provides live music. The committee coordinates cookie donations, decorating, setup, serving, and clean up.

SPRING CARNIVAL: A student favorite, this is one of our larger events. The committee organizes concessions, games, prizes, ticket sales, decorations, volunteers and more.  Each classroom is responsible for a carnival game which will be set up and run by classroom parents and their children.

Chairs:  VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR 2023-24

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR:  This event earns money for our school library. The committee is responsible for coordinating logistics with Scholastic to set up and promote the book fair, as well as organizing set-up, tear down, volunteer recruitment, keeping track of sales, securing teacher wish lists, etc.

HOT DOG PICNIC: Friends and family are invited to come and eat lunch outside on the lawn with the students. Assistance is needed for coordinating the lunch count, set up, food distribution and clean up.

Chair: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR 2023-24

SCHOOL SUPPLY KITS:  We currently work with School Kidz to offer back-to-school supply kits and make shopping easy. The committee contacts teachers for their supply lists, coordinates with School Kidz, and sends out ordering information to families in late Spring. Distribution of the kits is on Info Day or Back to School night of the following school year.

SPIRIT WEAR:  Show your school spirit by ordering shirts, hats, magnets and other Sunset Ridge gear. The chair person coordinates which items are to be sold with the spirit wear company and picks up items to be delivered.

Date: This program has sales throughout the school year.  

Chair: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR 2023-24

ROOM PARENT COORDINATOR:  This coordinator is the liaison between all teachers and their room parents.

Date: Emails are sent throughout the school year.

EARNING FOR LEARNING: Help collect, organize and send in qualifying labels and receipts. Set up classroom competitions to maximize participation.
