Commandant Peter Swing called the meeting to order. Fourteen members and three guests were in attendance. The minutes of the previous meeting were read. Donuts and coffee were provided. We welcome new Marine member Henry Smith.

Sick Call

Howard Cole is dealing with prostate cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with Howard.

Paymaster Report

Andy Pucek stated we have a balance of $575, plus 880,000 colones. A generous donation of $500 was received from Founding member Bob Brice. Andy will add  $250 to our dollar account and convert $250 into colones (125,000 colones) to our Toys for Tots account. Thank you, Bob Brice.

Toys for Tots

Bring your unwrapped toys to future meetings. Peter mentioned that this year we will distribute toys at the Hospital Nacional de Niños in San José and the Child Services Orphanage in Santa Ana. More info to follow. We continue to seek sponsors.

Old Business

Certificates of Appreciation were presented to members of the cemetery detail. ‘Founder’ patches were presented to Andy Pucek, Tom Bosserman and Jerry Karl, MCWLCR founding members (May 2010).

Peter mentioned there will be a meeting of the Junior ROTC Program at Berkeley Academy on September 19th. Contact Peter if you are interested in participating or mentoring.

The planned 250th Marine Corps Anniversary will take place at the Santa Ana Country Club on Saturday evening, October 25th. The deadline for tickets is October 11th.

New Business

Peter mentioned that those using the MCWLCR WhatsApp group chat, please fill out your FULL name and YOUR photo so we can all identify those in the group chat.

Member Michael Boza has invited the MCWLCR to participate in the ‘Festival of Lights Santa Ana’ in December. More info to follow. Thank you Michael.
