Commandant Peter Swing called the meeting to order. Twenty one members were in attendance. The minutes of the previous meeting were read. We welcome new Marine members Nicole Mattox, and Charlton Chao.
Sick Call
Andy Pucek’s mother-in-law is feeling better. Richard Drake’s wife is improving. George Cole mentioned that his wife was hacked on the internet. They have made a claim with their bank. George advises all members to be conscious of fraud on the internet.
Paymaster Report
Andy Pucek stated we have a balance of $1,825, plus 1,190,000 colones.
Old Business
Peter thanked all members and friends who made our Toys for Tots program a success. We are grateful for the support of the U.S. Embassy and the MSG Detachment, 430 toys were presented to needy children.
Five MCWLCR members were presented with Certificates of Appreciation for their time and effort with the Toys for Tots program, Marva Escoe, Patty Pucek, Chuck Turner, Yorlenny Aguilar and ReMax/Central Escazú.
Peter announced there would be a meeting at Berkeley Academy on Friday, January 23rd at 10:15 a.m. relating to the JROTC program; those members interested in attending, please contact Peter.
New Business
Peter mentioned there are many recent changes to Veterans Benefits. If members need assistance, please get in touch with Peter.
Peter appointed member Henry Elizano as our recruitment advisor. Henry is a security professional with contacts to local police and first responders. Thank you, Henry.
MCWLCR planned annual picnic has been reserved for Saturday, March 14th starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Los Arcos Residencial Pavilion, Heredia. Members, friends and family are welcome, casual dress, please bring a dish and drinks. More info to follow.
