This year, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Eric M. Smith and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Carlos A. Ruiz remind us all that Marines are professional warfighters who have earned their reputation of discipline and lethality in the crucible of combat.

On November 10, 2021, U.S. Marines around the globe celebrate a 246-year legacy of battlefield prowess defined by courage, discipline, loyalty, perseverance, adaptability, leadership, and warfighting innovation.
The annual birthday message delivered by the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. David H. Berger, and the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, Sgt. Maj. Troy Black, acknowledges the generation of Marines who joined after the terrorist attacks of 9/11, who later served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and who now approach their retirement milestone.
It also highlights the culture of innovation being cultivated by Marine leaders to enable the Marine Corps to remain America’s force in readiness—prepared to fight and win in every clime and place.
Family celebrates legacy of service as WWII hero passes the torch
CBS Evening News -- Graduation marks a crowning achievement for young Marines who've conquered boot camp, including 350 young men and women who are on the final leg of a life-changing journey at Marine boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina. In attendance at the ceremony will be legendary Marine Hershel "Woody" Williams. At 97, he is the last living Medal of Honor recipient from World War II. Among the new Marines passing in review is his great-grandson, Cedar Ross. David Martin shares their story. Submitted by MCLCR member Steve Stoll, June 2021.
