In order to improve the Home Delivery program, our next step should be to reevaluate each client's food preferences. This way, we can make sure that each client gets food that they can use, meaning that less goes to waste. When I was talking with some of the clients, a few of them mentioned that the preferences that they set were out of date, but that they didn’t know how to update them. By initiating our own review of each client’s preferences, we can take the burden off of clients and make sure that everyone is up to date.
As for how we would do this, one client described their experience with the Mountlake Terrace Food Bank Home Delivery program. There, they were given a form to check off what they would and would not eat. Using this method would be an easy way to gather the necessary data. Paper copies of the form could be distributed during Home Delivery dates, and then the completed forms could be picked up on the next date.
With this, we could customize a client's preference list and make sure that we prioritize food that we know they will use. This will help both the clients and the program. It makes sure that the clients get food they can eat, and it makes sure that less of our limited stock goes to waste. With this easy solution, we can do a lot to improve the Home Delivery program.
