this smaller-scale project now underway for September 2018
Phase I-- the initial smaller-scale renovation/remodeling project of McCall's expansion-- was approved and funded by 2017 Fall Town Meeting. Phase I will provide three new classrooms through renovation of approximately 4,800 square feet of existing space located under the gymnasium.
Phase I addresses the existing space shortage at McCall, as the library is currently subdivided into two instructional spaces. With the third new classroom taken by 2019, Phase II is needed to address further enrollment growth as projected by the Master Plan.
Construction documents for Phase I are complete, and preparations are underway for construction to begin late this spring and be complete by September 2018 for the start of school.

The space to be renovated for Phase I has been used for a number of years by the Winchester Youth Center (WYC), an after-school program under the direction the Town's Recreation Department. The district has pledged to make space available for the Youth Center in the newly-rebuilt Winchester High School.
