Pima Air & Space Museum, Intern (Fall 2019)
•Familiarized myself with the finding aid development process and database program (PastPerfect) used by the archives.
•Processed one-folder collections, creating finding aids when appropriate and providing other archival tasks including taking photos of objects; scanning photos; researching donors and gifts and tagging items for preservation.
•Entered finding aid information into PastPerfect before shelving the collections and unique objects, ensuring they were in the correct location.
•Cataloged photo collections by scanning, describing inputting individual descriptive information for each picture into PastPerfect.

•Carefully studied programs and finding aids for the Festival of American Folklife so I could organize digitized Festival photos from 1967 to 1989.
•Reviewed each year’s Festival photographs individually, determining if keywords had been correctly applied.
•Generated keyword lists for unprocessed images from 1983 and 1985, applying them to thousands of photos using Adobe Bridge.
•Organized photos according to the existing series in the finding aid and produced digital contact sheets aligned to them.
•Created spreadsheets for each Festival year that accounted for each photo’s classification as well as the keywords used to describe contact sheets.
•Uploaded digital contact sheets to the Digital Asset Management System and linked them to the public-facing Smithsonian Online Virtual Archives using ArchivesSpace.
•Assisted in processing 2019 Smithsonian Folklife Festival photos, including identifying participants, tagging photos and labeling images for deletion.

•Using guidelines of a grant from the Smithsonian Learning Lab, reviewed hard copy metadata describing the Cordry Collections.
•Based on the metadata, located and scanned slides and negatives from the archives’ photography stacks.
•Assembled metadata on image descriptions, dates, accession numbers, cultures and geographical locations.
•Applied knowledge of the Adobe Photoshop Program to improve the overall image quality of scanned slides and negatives.
•Presented on the project’s progress before community, Native American, Smithsonian and museum representatives.
•Communicated project updates with project stakeholders via conference calls.
•Created four collections on the Arizona State Museum Library & Archives Learning Lab profile.
