eLearning

I've created a variety of eLearning full courses and interactive learning activities. Here are examples.

My approach to adult learning is informed by Malcolm Knowles' work on Andragogy, research on gaming principles, and on the findings of Self-Determination Theory.

1) Media and Interactivity: Here's an example of how I use the tool Thinglink to enrich text content and to make the best use of existing media assets. In this activity (created for Adtalem Global Education) I use a collection of pop-ups that include audio, video, images, and links to help readers learn about the topic of implicit bias in the healthcare industry (click on the question marks to get more info on that topic).

2) Product Education Video: users of Cengage MindTap (an elearning platform) were frustrated when they had to frequently log into the platform simply to save website URLs to their courses. They did not understand how the RSS feature of MindTap could make these steps unnecessary.

I analyzed the problem and narrowed down the essential parts of the solution to 3. Instead of recording a lengthy video explaining how RSS works, why it’s helpful, and how to complete the steps (a content-focused approach), I created brief videos showing exactly what to do (a more practical, task-oriented approach).

3) Courses and Help Manuals: the Pearson Education "MyLab" learning management system is similar to many popular platforms such as Blackboard, Canvas, Udemy, and Ed2Go. I created a course for Pearson Sales personnel that helped them understand how MyLabs operate. The course is proprietary, but I created this video to promote the course and the training materials Sales personnel can provide to customers.

4) eBooks I developed from content expert Kara Stewart for NBX Wellness. Created in Canva.

5) Educational Video examples

One of many educational videos on my YouTube channel. This was created using VideoScribe. I scripted and recorded the narration and matched it up with the animation. Over 230k views.

How to Add a Web Link Activity to MindTap

This is a video I placed at the end of Cengage blog posts to direct customers from the blog to the company learning tool called MindTap.  Screenflow was used to capture the screen. I wrote and recorded the script.

6) Online Activities: this activity is a recreation of an experiment on the topic of Eyewitness Testimony. Here I use a combination of Google Sites, Forms, and Spreadsheets to present media, gather reader feedback, and then analyze that feedback to show the results of the study.
