Because of its location, 94803’s two-way radio communication is hampered by the surrounding hills.  Residents are concerned and have reached out to the city of Richmond for partnership in developing an emergency radio communications network so that citizens and neighborhoods of El Sobrante can communicate beyond the "valley" and get the help they may need.

A team of local radio operators has met with the goal of creating and growing a ham radio network for the 94803 area that would integrate with existing Richmond radio networks.
