⋆♡⸝⸝。°˖➴ 8th Annual California ASL Educators Collaboration Conference ⋆♡⸝⸝。°˖➴

For this event on March 4th, 2023, I volunteered as a student moderator and volunteer! I and a few other ASL students volunteered to assist with various areas. These include preparing breakfast and lunch, making folders with the event's schedule and details about the presenters, moderating presentations, and aiding faculty.

Moderating

In this photo, I and another moderator were sitting in on a session highlighting the use of Canvas Post Its in the teaching of ASL online.

First Presentation

This was the first section of the conference. Here, educators were introduced to the overserving coordinators of the event, see the overview for the day, and were introduced to the volunteers sitting in the back (we were helping attendees find open seats).

Conference Folder

In the photo above, you can see the folders that the volunteers had put together. These consisted of a list of presenters and information about the presentations, a notetaking page, a notepad, a page acknowledging the fees paid for the event, and more! We created a small assembly line to finish the amount needed.

•.~☆~.・Cypress ASL Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses•.~☆~.・

In the picture to the left, it shows that on November 19, 2022, I attending a fully ASL meeting of Jehovah's Witnesses. In this meeting, cameras were used when commenting to show the whole signing area and for the audience to see the fully message of what was being conveyed. This meeting's theme was on developing honesty and trustworthness from principals found in the Bible. Instead of written paragraphs, videos were shown that properly represent conceptually what was being taught! As for the scripture, a video bible source of the New World Translation was also used!

ASL CLUB

This slide show is an example of the basic signs taught, concepts explored, and conversation starters we use at our meetings! This is the slide show that I edited and worked on!

⋆˙⟡♡ I and a few other ASL students in collaboration with Professor Kendra Rose and Butch Zein restarted the Officers of ASL Club at Crafton Hills College in Fall 2022! We had a booth at our campus's Club Rush event and (upcoming) High School Day! We orchestrate meetings with slide shows teaching basic signs, play games, and plan attendance at larger Deaf events! ⋆˙⟡♡
