About Admetsys
Admetsys is a startup biotech company that had been working on developing a artificial pancreas for use in hospitals to give nurses more bandwidth to treat more patients. The company was a little under 10 people when I worked there under the CEO. During my time there, of which I found through a Mass Life Sciences Intern Grant, I built up test rigs and tested tubing and pumps through the ISO 60601-2-24 standard.
Tasks/Projects
Scope: Test different tubing the team selected to ensure future FDA ISO 60601-2-24 compliance and tubing life cycle limits.
Challenges:
Understanding the basis of the ISO 60601-2-24 Standard
Learning to wire and program stepper motors
Items Learned:
Documentation practices for tubing effectiveness data
How to use a Raspberry Pi
Scope: Test the precision and accuracy of the linear paristaltic pumps and syringe pumps through dispensing data collection.
Challenges:
Quantify the flow rate and time to pump for each pump
Fix the rigs I had put together the previous summer
Items Learned:
Distiguishing the purpose and function of each pump
Programming of an AND Data Memory Balance
Additional Information
I wanted to thank my brother Philip Onffroy for helping get my foot in the door, Glenn Robertelli for being a great mentor and supplying me with my first internship experiences with help from The Mass Life Sciences.
